The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) confirmed that Neri Naig was taken to the hospital for “medical evaluation” on Friday, November 29, days after being arrested over estafa and securities violation charges.
Naig was transferred to the hospital around 8 p.m. on November 29 at her lawyer’s request, per BJMP spokesperson Jail Supt. Jayrex Bustinera. The agency clarified that her medical evaluation “shall not be more than five days” citing a court order.

Syndicated estafa is a non-bailable offense, which means that unless the court sees merit for her provisional liberty, Naig may spend Christmas and New Year while in detention.

Article continues after this advertisementShortly after her arrest, Naig’s husband, Chito Miranda, stressed that the embattled actress-businesswoman is merely an endorser of the Dermacare-Beyond Skin Care Ventures.
However, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) claimed in a Teleradyo Serbisyo interview that Naig allegedly had “enticed investments” into the dermatological company without a proper license.
